The WIT Crowd | 09/24/2019

School is back in session, and campus is full of pedestrians shuffling tiredly between buildings all across campus. I hope you’re taking care to avoid catching the attention of the shamblers…

WIT Crowd Newsletter Redesign

In an effort to better serve the Women in Technology community, the UMN WIT Executive committee has redesigned the WIT Crowd newsletter format.

In the sections below, you’ll still find events and activities that are put on by UMN WIT. You’ll also find links to resources to help us learn and grow as professionals. These resources might be specific to Women in Technology, but they may also just be good for personal development. We hope you enjoy the changes!

If you have feedback for what you would like to see in the WIT Crowd, contact [email protected].

Something to Listen To, Read, or Watch

  • WorkLife with Adam Grant: A TED original podcast
Organizational psychologist Adam Grant takes you inside the minds of some of the world’s most unusual professionals to explore the science of making work not suck. From learning how to love criticism to harnessing the power of frustration, one thing’s for sure: You’ll never see your job the same way again. “I found that every episode of this podcast was relevant to something that was happening in my current work life. After listening, I walk away with specific actions I can take to improve some aspect of how I carry myself, interact with colleagues, or do my work. I even re-listen to episodes when I need a reminder. This is an *excellent* professional development podcast!” – Laura F.
  • ► President Joan Gabel's Inauguration
If you weren’t able to attend the inauguration in person, we hope you’ll take some time to watch the first woman president of the University of Minnesota give her inaugural speech. We are thrilled to look up to one of the highest seats of leadership in our organization and see ourselves represented more clearly than ever!
